What is
Parent Coaching?

Parent Coaching is a process in which a trained professional guides, supports, and provides strategies to parents or guardians in order to enhance their parenting skills. It focuses on identifying specific goals that parents want to achieve, whether that’s improving communication with their children, managing behavior challenges, or adding to their parenting style.

Is Parent Coaching the same as therapy?

No, parent coaching and therapy are two separate services. Parent coaching is often short- term, goal directed, accountability driven, and does not coincide with a mental health diagnosis. Therapy can be short- term or long- term, focuses on psychological concerns, and does often include a mental health diagnosis.

What can I expect from my parent coaching session?

During the first session, there will be background information gathered, goals assessed, and you will walk away with a collaborative parenting plan in place to begin working on the strategies that will work best for your unique family. At each subsequent session, we will continue to build skills in various ways and add to your parenting toolbox. We will meet in person or virtually, based on your preference.
